US Special Segment (starting June 24, 2026)

  • Chunghwa Post will adjust its tax calculation method for goods mailed to the United States starting July 24, 2026. The actual customs duty will now be calculated based on the U.S. Tariff Schedule (HTSUS), country of origin, declared value, quantity, and weight of the goods. An import processing fee of US$2 will be added to each item (regardless of whether customs duties are incurred), plus a customs declaration fee. Taxes and fees will be converted to New Taiwan Dollars (NTD) at the previous business day's Taiwan Bank spot selling exchange rate. This applies to declared values of US$2,500 (inclusive) or less; values exceeding US$2,500 require formal import customs declaration by the recipient in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations.
  • US$2,500 (inclusive) and below:JUSPIRIT Taxes and fees paid on behalf of others. To simplify the process, we will prepay the aforementioned taxes at checkout as "15% of the declared value + US$2 per item." This amount is already included in the checkout/shipping quote, and customers do not need to pay additionally upon receiving the package in the United States. Any difference in actual taxes will be borne by the customer. JUSPIRIT The money will be absorbed, and no additional charge will be made to the customer.
  • For amounts exceeding US$2,500: advance payment is not required; the recipient must handle the formal import customs declaration. This post office does not offer prepayment services for this category. Since the prepaid taxes are already included in the checkout amount for US orders, for orders exceeding $2,500, please complete the order but do not pay online immediately. Let us know what items you want; we will remove the prepaid taxes from the order and adjust the amount to the correct level before you complete the payment normally. Customs duties will be paid by you to US Customs upon package clearance. After placing your order, please contact us via the website form, Line, or email for assistance.

EU Special Segment (effective 2026/7/1)

  • From July 1, 2026, the EU will abolish the preferential tariff exemption for imported goods valued at less than €150, and instead impose simplified tariffs, with a €3 levy on each item declared under different tariff categories. If an order contains multiple different items (e.g., pens and ink belong to different tariff categories), they may be charged separately.
  • Exception: Gifts given between individuals with a value not exceeding 45 euros are still exempt from tax (this exception usually applies to private mailings, not commercial transactions between merchants and consumers; please pay attention to the actual determination by customs).
  • JUSPIRIT Since no IOSS account has been applied for, and the post office currently does not offer the "sender's payment" service for EU orders, EU orders will remain payable to the recipient upon delivery. The sending of the package itself will not be affected by the post office's suspension of IOSS-related services and can be accepted and sent normally.

General rules for international orders

  1. Duty handling depends on destination. For US orders (USD 2,500 or below), customs duty is prepaid by JUSPIRIT and included in your checkout total. For US orders over USD 2,500, and all EU and other international orders, import duty, VAT, or other customs charges remain the recipient's responsibility, payable locally.
  2. Declared value reflects the actual transaction amount. We declare the true value and contents of every shipment and do not under-declare value or mark commercial shipments as gifts to avoid duties.
  3. For duty-on-delivery regions (eg EU), packages returned due to unpaid duties are the buyer's responsibility. The round-trip shipping cost and any resulting loss will be charged to the buyer; the original shipping fee is non-refundable.
  4. Shipping method is arranged case by case, based on weight, destination, and delivery timeline, using Taiwan Post (including EMS), DHL, or other couriers.
  5. Accurate recipient information is required, including a complete address, contact phone, and any tax ID needed for customs clearance.

United States (effective July 24, 2026)

  • From July 24, 2026, Taiwan Post calculates the duty on US merchandise mail from the US tariff code (HTSUS) of each item, its country of origin, declared value, quantity and weight, and adds a fixed USD 2 Entry Fee per item (whether or not duty applies), plus a brokerage handling fee; charges are converted to NT dollars at the Bank of Taiwan spot selling rate of the previous business day. This applies to declared values up to USD 2,500; orders over USD 2,500 requires a formal customs entry filed by the recipient.
  • Non-commercial gifts, documents, and books valued at USD 100 or below remain duty-free.
  • For declared values up to USD 2,500: taxes are prepaid by JUSPIRIT. To keep things simple, we prepay these charges at checkout as 15% of declared value plus USD 2 per item. This is already included in your checkout total, so you do not need to pay anything on delivery. Any difference in the actual amount is absorbed by JUSPIRIT.
  • For declared values over USD 2,500: no prepayment; the recipient files a formal customs entry. Because our US checkout total includes prepaid taxes by default, please place your order but do not pay online yet, and contact us. We will remove the prepaid taxes, adjust your order to the correct amount, and ask you to complete payment. You pay the duty directly to US customs on delivery.

European Union (effective July 1, 2026)

  • Effective July 1, 2026, the EU removed the duty-free threshold for imports under EUR 150 and introduced a simplified duty of EUR 3 per distinct tariff classification. Orders with multiple product types (eg pens and ink) may be charged per item type.
  • Exception: personal gifts between individuals valued at EUR 45 or below remain duty-free (generally private person-to-person only; customs interpretation may vary).
  • JUSPIRIT does not hold an IOSS account, and Taiwan Post does not offer a sender-prepayment option for the EU, so EU orders remain duty-collect-on-delivery.
